Let's reunite stolen tools with their owners
South Yorkshire Police recently posted this message on their social media sites. They'd recovered a large number of tools that they assumed were stolen and were trying to find the original owners.
This situation is ridiculous and we have to do something about it. It should not be necessary for the Police to have to resort to social media in the hope that the owners of the stolen property will see the message. And even the owners did see the message, they would then have the burden of proving ownership - not easy to do once a theft has occured.
This is a waste of time and resources for the Police, and a real kick in the teeth for the hard working people who had been deprived of their tools.
Tool Record aims to improve this situation for everyone by making it easy for tool owners to record details of their property, and to easily flag their tools as stolen. When the Police recover tools, they can instantly search the public database to look for a match - if a match is found, contact can be arranged and the tools can be reunited with their owners.
No-one wants to suffer a theft, but let's be prepared for it if it does happen. Sign up for your free Tool Record today and start protecting your tools.
