The Tool Record website is live
We're excited to announce that the Tool Record website is now live and available for you to use. Power tool users can register to create their own personal Tool Record and start adding information about the tools that they own.
Some tool owners love to obsessively catalogue their collection. Others may not be interested in that, but something that we all share is the unfortunate risk that our tools may be stolen. Even if our tools are insured, it can be difficult to make a claim as we don't have the information that we need to prove ownership, or to document what was stolen.
Tool Record aims to make it easy and enjoyable for tool owners to keep track of the tools that they own. With all the information in one place, in the event of a theft it's easy to export the details needed to make a claim.
We also provide a public search function that allows law enforcement agencies to search for serial numbers that have been flagged as stolen, helping them to reunite owners with recovered tools.
Over the coming weeks we will be adding more functionality to the website, but for now here's a quick breakdown of how the site works.
Add details of your tools
Add as much or as little information as you like about each tool. You can upload your receipts and photos of each tool if you want.
Manage your tool collection
View all of your tools in one place with simple functions to search and reorder your collection. You will soon be able to export your tool collection as a spreadsheet, if that's useful for you.
Report a theft
If you are unfortunate enough to suffer a theft, easily upload information to the site about what happened. You can then mark selected tools as stolen and download information to help you make an insurance claim.
Our stolen tool search function
Anyone who suspects that a tool may be stolen can search our public database by serial number to see if a matching tool has been reported as missing. If a match is found, we will contact you to help reunite you with your property.
